At Scoil San Carlo JNS, we strive to get more children, more active, more often. According to The World Health Organisation, children should be physically active for at least 60 minutes each day. Our school provides opportunities for physical activity through our timetabled P.E. lessons, a wide variety of movement breaks in the classroom and twice daily breaks on the yard.
All classes are taught the five different P.E. strands; athletics, dance, games, gymnastics and outdoor and adventure. Our school focuses on the strand of aquatics through teaching the Land PAWS Water Safety Program in the final term each year. We also focus on the Fundamental Movement Skills to further develop each P.E. lesson.
For the last 13 years, our school has been involved in the Active School Flag initiative. We were recently awarded our fourth Active School Flag in November 2024.
Our current Active Committee consists of 12 children from 1st and 2nd class. They do tremendous work towards promoting a physically active environment in San Carlo JNS. One of the many jobs they take on is the role of Playground Leaders. This encourages all our school community to be active at yard times also.
The Active Team can be contacted at the following email address [email protected]
We would love to see photos from any outside sporting activities your child takes part in. These photos will not be put up on the school website, but will be displayed in our P.E. hall only.
This is our Active Team!
Here is our hall. We do P.E. here twice a week.
The children are encouraged to walk to school on Wednesdays.
